HOÀNG-ÂN:  Three Poems

POEM onE:  The Strawberry

What's there to do
When above the cliff
Is a hungry tigress waiting
And down below is an abyss?
Let pluck the hanging strawberry
Ah, how sweet is the taste
Of being presence.

POEM TWO: A Gulp

We cannot with a gulp
Swallow the whole of the Grange
But with creativity
We can envision
The whole of the boundless universe

POEM THREE:  Afternoon Siesta

A lazy afternoon
The sacred text half read
The mantra half chanted
At the corner of the table
My poem booklet
Half forgotten
