Momentary Escape

Strands of black silk blown in waves of a refreshing summer breeze
Some dangle on your face
As the setting sun tries to hide behind the green mountains
Shedding this magical light
Of burgundy, orange, violet in the midst of blue skies and white clouds
At the far horizon you gaze happily
Oh, this seemingly chaotic mix of lights and oceanic sounds does
Make a surprising natural harmony
Too rare to be missed!
Everlasting waves of surf caress ashore and our bare feet
As we stand in absolute disregard of all temporal ties
As though we have trespassed onto heaven
Which does not seem to mind our transgression
But rather acknowledges our presence
And accepts it in great subtlety

I reach out and pull you close to me
You turn to me, your eyes smile
And slowly they shut in trustful anticipation
Of engaging in the law of passion
Our lips cling together
A strand of your hair gets caught in the midst

We look again to the velvet sky
Where water meets it
A pair of white cranes
Flying off to their warmth of nest
The shade of sunset
Prints our walking silhouette
On the sandy beach
All the way to home
