Một Đại Dương
Cho con về phố làng thân yêu
Giọng ầu ơ quyện khói lam chiều
Lúa mạ xanh giỡn đuà gió thoảng
Cột đèn đêm hàng bánh căn giòn
Cho con say câu hò của cha
Cá nục kho măng chén cơm chiều
Chị cùng em rộn ràng chuyện kể
Vòng tay ôm mẹ tỏ lời yêu
Cho con qua nhịp cầu trăng thanh
Sóng gợn đưa lơi nhẹ tay đò
Cho con gom mây trời tuổi nhỏ
Tắm ngày xanh giòng suối an lành
Cho con yêu bầu trời quê hương
Hôn Mường Giang tìm dấu phố phường
Bao lá thu bến bờ ly biệt
Nghe khóc hồn mình một đại dương
Cát Biển

An Ocean
Let me return to the beloved village
Where the lullaby is entwined with the smoked crepuscule,
Green rice paddies flirt in the wind,
The lamp post shines on the peddler of rice patties.
Let me be mesmerized in my father's declaiming song
Mackerel pot with bamboo shoot and rice at dinner
Brother and sisters sharing crisp stories
With my mother's embracing, as her loving words.
Let me come back across the city bridge under the moonlight
The ferry gliding softly on the rippling water,
To gather the dreaming clouds of my youthful years,
And swim the peaceful spring of memories.
Let me find love at the corner of fatherland,
To kiss the river Muong and find vestiges of my old city
As autumn leaves mark a life of separation
There is an ocean pervading my soul
