RAIN ON THE SEINE RIVER
The rain falls sadly on the cold river bank
Unable to sleep, you watch the stars chase in the sky.
Tears wet your pillow
As memories come back, hurting you.
The sorrowful rain over there soaks your shoulders,
Is your vest buttoned through
And was the lining warm enough,
Or tattered under the morning dew?
I give you this red flame
To comfort a young love on this winter afternoon.
Although the winter air is cold,
This flame will lull you into deep slumber.
To-morrow, the sun will send fragrant rays
Over your vest, warming your shoulders,
Caressing your delicate cheeks and deep eyes,
And perfume your hairdress with flowers.
That's all, my love, don't nurture sadness,
Leave the sorrow for me.
I wish you happiness in the new day
And joy in remembering our time together.
