The Unsent Letter

Has life become so pointless and void of meaning that I see you as the only ray of hope? Is it on the edge of despair, hanging on just by a glimpse of distant possibility of being with you? The answer is an emphatic NO!

Romantic therefore idealistic, and pragmatism to me is as a drop of water to a lake, miniscule and insignificant. You come into my life presenting everything that is pure, genuine, and innocent. Your inherent beauty is beyond physical, apparent in social interactions. Your exuberant spirit, cheerful laughter, and youthful charm captivate souls, instantly fill every room that you walk in, mesmerize people in public.

Love, so abstract of a word, is therefore ambiguous in meaning. Hence, it is fragile! It is even more vulnerable, when obscured by a vast distance of space. My love, though unrequited, is not far-reaching enough to will your passion. My love has never been reciprocated, and I’ve been misguided under the impression that I, somehow, am adored in every element of your life. Little that I know, you are not at all wholehearted. Our affair deems to be doomed at start, when passion is merely experimental and our brief encounter is caught at an impasse.

What disheartens me is that the once shared and cherished memories are now tarnished solely due to the fact that the whole affair has been experimental. Moreover, there are hopes and dreams yet to be accomplished, but the idea of making those a reality now is just more than preposterous. Ironically, those hopes and dreams at one point or another were mutual. The question is thus raised, when and what has altered your mind? Or your experiment involves only on the theoretical level rather than the realistic level? I guess I’ll never know!

So what is the verdict having analytically demystified the whole charade? It is a massive misjudgment of character on my behalf, consequentially ensued by a disastrous end which forever imprints a scar in my heart.

Friendship seemingly poses as a great idea, yet it is mediocre and much overrated. It is merely sporadic exchanges of haft-hearted courtesy. Politeness makes demand and obliges one to respond to another in nonchalant fashion. What makes it worse even is the fact that the distance disallows the sort of face-to-face visits. So left with these nonchalant exchanges, we will soon give way to the obstacles of distance and time. Is that what I should look forward to having? I think not!

Believe me dear, I take no pleasure in hurting you when I say good bye. The pain that you feel only escalates the pain of my existing wound. It’s excruciating! However, what you feel is only momentary, and I, I have to live with it for the rest of my life. While your conscious mind dictates that it is painful and that it’s negatively affecting your life, your
subconscious mind is glad that the whole affair is finished. Your tears might seem to be real at the moment, yet they are shed not because of the sadness of separation, but rather for the appropriateness of the occasion. Soon, I’ll become a thing of a distant past, gone and forgotten. I, on the other hand, won’t forget you and what we shared. Though, the feelings might or might not have been genuine one your part, when reminisce my life in retrospect, I’ll think about those happiest, most innocent moments, and some of those not-so-innocent ones.

In conclusion, our encounter is composed of love and friendship; the former has miserably failed, and the later deems to fade into oblivion of space and time.

I bid you adieu my dear. You have been nothing short of a great hopeless romance, whose tale shall remain a secret as its unbecoming nature. It is my sincere hope that you’ll have a great full-filled life as our separate endeavors diverge to their respective infinity.
