HOÀNG-ÂN:  LOYALTY AND THE PRINCIPLE OF THINGS

I was born into wartorn South Vietnam.  For fourteen years I was raised in Saigon City one of the Pearls of Southeast Asia.  on April 1975 I was chosen by my Grandparents to illegally escape from the country on an exodus; my widowed Mother decided to stay in Vietnam with my two sibblings.  The first night out on the Pacific Ocean our boat's water pump died in a storm.  The morning came and 145 of us were rescued by the USS KIM BRO an American oil cargo ship.  The ship docked at Subic Bay then a C-130 flew us to Guam and from there we entered the United States of America on a TWA to Fort Chaffee, Fort Smith, Arkansas.  In Fort Chaffee I volunteered to work with the USCC and travelled to Europe and Africa for humanitarian missions.  By late May 1975 our extended family of 17 were sponsored by two Lutheran churches in Iowa.  We lived on a farm in Marengo and went to church and school in Williamsburg.

When I was in the States in Fort Chaffee I worked for the Vietnamese Newspapers New Land; I took care of setting the printing machine and providing non-stopped coffee and doughnuts and sweets for the Vietnamese authors, writers, graphic artist, ect.  Other than that I found donating agencies and gave away teddy bears and Montessory educational toys for the children; and mostly acoustic guitars for Vietnamese men.

1976 until 1979 I was being welcomed by young adult friends to submit prose, short stories, essays, and poems.   Fall 1981 I was editor in chief of the Organization of Vietnamese Students at University of Houston, Central Campus; together we published a Vietnamese Literature Special Edition for Autumn 1981.  Before I graduated doubled honors at J. Frank Dobie High School, I did most of the tasks of the publishing for the newsletters and Year Book for the Class of 1980.

All through the humbling but rich experiences skirting with the world of Journalism, I learned the serious prizes of honor and pride in the ethics that have to do with The Principle in all thoughts and deeds, especially all the realms in the printing words.  This shall be an introduction to my quite serious essay about The Purity of Truth and The Essence of The Law; of which are the gist of my investigation in the PBS Frontline Documentary Terrior In Little Saigon and Giải Mã Mặt Trận Hoàng Cơ Minh.
