Winter Wondering
As I was traveling one early morning, I stopped to gaze upon the soft, silent snow beginning to fall. The confetti of flakes fluttered and swirled gently down upon the earth. Slowly they began to accumulate, creating a carpet of pure white before me. With each step I took, my footprints were impressed in the ground.
After a short journey, I looked back. Each step appreared to be entirely too insignificant, so minute in such a vast canvas of purity. The marks I had just made were starting to blur and fade as the snow filled up each indentation.
At first, I was dismayed by the thought, as I compared it to my life. The meaninglessness of my steps in the snow was just like my life in the whole span of eternity. This idea filled me with despair. However, as I stood there in the cold, pondering, I came to realize that my perspective was wrong. Each step I took was actually being cleansed. No matter my mistakes in life, I was still determined to arrive at my destination from my journey. Each step brought me to that particular place and I could not try to remember those days of the past, like the snow covering my steps.
